Phyllis Browning Co. celebrated the grand opening of its newest office Wednesday, the latest of multiple new offices for the San Antonio area's largest independently owned residential real estate company.
The new office at 6061 Broadway St. is across the parking lot from its old Alamo Heights office, which the company outgrew and is being taken over by Capital Title of Texas. While the cost of the new two-story, 8,538-square-foot office is unknown, it was recently assessed by the Bexar County Appraisal District at $923,640. Joeris General Contractors handled the construction, while Overland Partners designed the building. It marks the fourth location that Phyllis Browning Co. has had on Broadway Street.
Along with its Alamo Heights office, the company recently opened offices off North Loop 1604 West and in New Braunfels.
The new Alamo Heights office features a modern, open-space design on its second floor and includes insulated phone booths where agents can make calls in a quiet space without having to leave the building.
"When we started, cubicles and private offices were really popular, and now, everyone wants the open work spaces. So we designed the new offices to accommodate the way people work today — a more collaborate style and the ability to share information with more ease," said Phyllis Browning Co. President Jennifer Shemwell, who was joined at the ribbon-cutting by her mother and company founder Phyllis Browning, along with company employees and representatives from the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce.
Started in 1989, Phyllis Browning Co. operates six offices in the area.
